What brought you to work or get interested in the Congress’ fields?

As a high school student I was interested in both mathematics and
philosophy, so it was natural that at university I tried to combine
these subjects. Mathematical logic is the most obvious candidate for this, with philosophy of science being the philosophical subject closest to it. The 1983 Salzburg LMPS Congress was the first big international congress I attended after my Ph.D. The breadth of topics within the realm of exact philosophy deeply impressed me. I would never have imagined myself becoming program chair of this outstanding event one day.

What has your participation to the Congress brought you?

Many first-class talks, many new contacts, many good conversations, many excellent dinners ....

What is your opinion about your portrait?

I had to get used to it. It’s more a piece of art, not a photograph in
the conventional sense. Do I feel properly portrayed by it? I don’t know. I asked my daughter who said: «I think it’s really cool». So it must be cool. She has more sense for these things than I have.
